Institution (Formation)

  • Formation: As part of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, Vazhoor Block Panchayat was officially established on 1958.
  • Area: Located in Vaikom Taluk, the Block Panchayat covers an area of approximately 142.24 square kilometres.
  • Jurisdiction: The Block Panchayat comprises the following Grama Panchayats: Vazhoor,Chirakkadavu,Vellavoor,Nedumkunnam,Kangazha,Karukachal

Elected Body

  • There are a total of 14 wards (divisions).
  • A President and Vice-President are elected from among the 14 elected members.
  • Statutory reservation is provided for women and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities.
